Who this policy covers
This policy applies when you visit shopydash.com, use the Shopydash buyer or vendor app, contact support, or interact with our marketplace features. Shopydash is the service provider responsible for the personal information described here.
We process information in line with applicable Nigerian data protection requirements, including the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023.
Information we collect
We collect only information needed to operate the marketplace and keep transactions accountable.
- Account and sign in details: full name, username, email address, phone number, password or Google sign in details, role, verification status, and account activity.
- Campus identity: university name, school email where provided, campus area, gender preference where provided, and information used to confirm access to an allowed campus.
- Buyer and vendor profiles: store name and bio, categories, profile and cover images, social links, pickup preferences, reviews, ratings, wishlists, and product listings.
- Orders and payments: products, quantities, prices, delivery or pickup choices, address and landmark details entered at checkout, order status, dispute and refund records, payment references, fee records, and payout status.
- Vendor payout information: bank name, bank code, account number, account name, verification result, and the payment provider reference needed to send an approved payout. These details are restricted in the application and are not shown to buyers.
- Messages and uploads: conversations, text, product or order references, and attachments such as images, videos, PDFs, or documents that you choose to send.
- Technical and usage information: device and browser information, pages and features used, event information, approximate session activity, and error information. The marketing site may use Mixpanel only when its public analytics configuration is enabled.
Please do not submit passwords, full bank details, identity numbers, or another person’s private information in public listings, reviews, messages, or support requests.
How we use information
- Create and secure accounts, verify email addresses, recover access, and apply the buyer or vendor permissions attached to an account.
- Show campus products, publish vendor stores, support search and discovery, and provide the messaging features used to ask questions and coordinate orders.
- Create and manage orders, payment sessions, escrow records, delivery or pickup steps, inspections, disputes, refunds, notifications, and vendor payouts.
- Verify vendor and bank information, prevent fraud and abuse, investigate complaints, enforce marketplace rules, and protect users and Shopydash.
- Provide customer support, send service messages, maintain records, improve reliability, and understand product usage when analytics is enabled.
- Meet legal, accounting, security, and law enforcement obligations where a valid request or legal duty applies.
Why we are allowed to process it
Depending on the activity, processing is based on taking steps to provide your requested service, performing our agreement with you, complying with a legal obligation, protecting users and the service, or your consent where consent is the appropriate basis.
You may withdraw consent for a consent based activity. Withdrawal does not undo processing that was already lawful, and some information must be retained to complete an order, resolve a dispute, prevent fraud, or meet legal obligations.
When information is shared
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only as needed for the service:
- Other marketplace participants: buyers and vendors see the profile, listing, order, and contact information needed to complete a transaction. Bank payout details are not exposed to buyers.
- Payment services: Anchor receives the payment and payout information required to process transactions, verify accounts, and return payment status to Shopydash.
- Infrastructure providers: providers such as Cloudinary may store uploaded media on our instructions. We use access controls and share only the data needed for that service.
- Professional and legal support: advisers, regulators, courts, or law enforcement when disclosure is required or reasonably necessary to protect people, property, or the service.
Service providers process information under their own terms and security commitments. Their services may process information outside Nigeria where permitted by applicable law and protected by appropriate safeguards.
Payments, messages, and product safety
Shopydash does not ask for your card details in its own database. Payment is handled through the payment flow provided by Anchor. Do not send card or bank credentials through chat.
Messages, listings, reviews, and attachments can be reviewed for safety, moderation, dispute handling, fraud prevention, and support. You can edit or delete messages where the app provides that control, but records connected to an order, dispute, security event, or legal obligation may need to be retained.
If you report that an item is damaged, incorrect, or not as described, Shopydash carries out a strict inspection and begins the review immediately. Where a return is approved, the current marketplace handling target is within one day of the report.
Cookies, storage, and analytics
The marketing site uses browser storage only for the functions configured in the application. The website may use Mixpanel for page and CTA events when the Mixpanel token is configured. The app also uses necessary storage for authentication and session continuity.
You can control cookies and local storage through your browser or device settings. Blocking necessary storage may stop sign in, checkout, or other app features from working. We do not use analytics information to sell advertising profiles.
Security and retention
We use access controls, authentication, rate limits, protected payment webhooks, restricted bank fields, and other reasonable technical and organisational safeguards. No online service can promise absolute security, so keep your password private and tell us promptly if you suspect unauthorised access.
We keep information for as long as it is needed for the purpose collected, active account and order support, dispute and refund handling, fraud prevention, financial records, or legal obligations. When it is no longer needed, we delete it, anonymise it, or securely restrict it where appropriate.
Your choices and privacy rights
Subject to applicable law and reasonable verification, you may ask us to access, correct, update, delete, or provide a copy of your personal information. You may also ask us to restrict or object to certain processing, or complain about how your information is handled.
Send requests to support@shopydash.com from the email linked to your account. We may ask for information needed to verify the request and protect the account. We will respond within the period required by applicable law.
Children and third party links
Shopydash is designed for university students and is not directed at children. Do not create an account if you are not legally able to enter the applicable agreement. If we learn that a child’s information was submitted without the required permission, contact support so we can review and remove it where appropriate.
Our website and app may link to payment, social, or other third party services. Their privacy policies control their own processing. Review them before submitting information.
Changes and contact
We may update this policy when the service, law, or data practices change. The updated version will appear on this page with a new date. If a change is important, we will provide an in app or service notice where appropriate.
